Hell Freezes Over: Flatbush Zombies in Minnesota

Flatbush Zombies, made up of rappers Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice, and rapper-producer Erick Arc Elliott, formed in 2010 in the Flatbush neighborhood of Brookly, NYC. Along with The Underachievers, Pro Era, and A$AP MOB, the Zombies make up the powerhouse of experimental hip hop that is Beast Coast. Known for their obscure and sometimes obscene lyrics and imagery, the Zombies bring together elements of New York grit, with Experimental Trap, and a general “I Don’t Give a F***” attitude.

Flatbush brought all that and more to The Palace Theatre in St. Paul Wednesday night, in the 10th stop of their See You in Hell Tour, promoting their latest album “Vacation in Hell”. Delivering their awoken message to a sold out venue over dirty synths and rumbling subbass, they performed with an infecting energy that put the entire venue in another dimension. The visual element of Flatbush Zombies is just as important as their sound. Trippy visuals, flamboyant clothes, and a style that would challenge George Clinton, the Zombies are a must see wherever they perform. Special guests Kirk Knight and Nyck Caution of Pro Era set the stage early and got everyone pumped for Flatbush to melt their faces.

The Palace Theatre in St. Paul is a great venue to see any show. Owned and managed by world famous First Avenue, they have great sound, decent drinks and multiple levels for viewing, including a seated balcony and plenty of standing room up close and personal with the performers, with enough space for the most intense fans.
